Power Drill 3

There’s no doubt about it….you can dissect the golf swing to the nth degree and make it as complicated as you like. But to hit the golf ball as far as possible you need to have freedom, relaxation and a powerful release in your golf swing. And today we’re going to give you one of the simplest golf drills to help you achieve this. It’s an extremely easy drill, but don’t let that fool you because it can make a massive, positive difference to your golf swing.

Now if you look at any good golf swing they have three common elements, which include…

1. Rotating the body
2. Transferring the weight
3. Hinging & Unhinging the wrists

Here is a great way to powerfully learn to do this in the golf swing.

Step 1: Setup to a golf ball with your driver.

Step 2: Now raise the club up so it’s parallel with the ground.

Step 3: From this position swing back (keeping the club parallel to the ground) by rotating your upper body and transferring your weight to your right side. While you’re doing this gradually cock your wrists so that at the end of your backswing your wrists are fully loaded. When doing this your head should move slightly to the right so it’s behind the ball.

Step 4: To start the forward swing simply move your weight to your left foot and rotate your body while uncocking your wrists.

Step 5: Keep rotating your body so you finish your swing with almost all of your weight on your left side, your belt buckle facing the target and your right foot up on the toe.

Here is a video of one of Alex’s clients demonstrating this drill….

That’s the golf swing, just on a different plane!

When you do this drill you’ll feel a very powerful release through the hitting area. If you can transfer that powerful, free release to your normal golf swing you will hit the ball a lot further.

To help you do this we suggest that you practice this horizontal swinging a lot. And you can do this in between shots when you’re practicing.

An important point that must be made about the golf swing is about your spine angle. Because when you’re swinging a golf club on a horizontal plane like we’ve just shown you or from a normal setup position to be a more consistent ball striker, you must keep this spine angle constant throughout your golf swing. Here is a great video showing the PGA Tour Professional Luke Donald doing this:

So there you go, that’s two things you can do right now in your golf swing to swing quicker and hit the ball further, more consistently.

Naturally these power drills we’re giving you are only to compliment The Golf Swing Speed Challenge program. Because when you start that program you’ll notice very quickly your golf swing becoming faster and better plus…

  • You’ll enjoy playing golf more because you’ll be hitting the ball further, better and with less effort.
  • You’ll hit the ball straighter because your golf swing will be more powerful and in more control.
  • You’ll feel like you’re swinging easier and yet the ball will be going further.
  • You’ll lower your scores because you’ll have shorter shots to the greens.
  • You’ll feel better and this will have a great overall positive affect on your golf game and your life.
